If you’re looking for a fun activity to do with kids, picking your own fruit or visiting a local farmers market is a great way to have fun AND teach them about where our food comes from. There is something special about using locally made products, eating fruits and vegetables grown right here in Polk County, or enjoying strawberries and blueberries you’ve picked yourself. We’ve put together a list of Farmers Markets and U-Pick farms where you can find fresh, local goodies!
While most Farmers Markets are consistent with their hours, U-Pick operations are open seasonally and many do not keep a regular schedule. Read below to find the U-Pick seasonal dates. Strawberries are typically Feb/March, Blueberries are typically April/May, Peaches are typically April/May/June. Each farm listed includes links to their website and/or Facebook page so you can easily check current availability and operating hours. We STRONGLY suggest you check these sources or call ahead the day of your visits.
