REVIEW: Harvest Holler Corn Maze in Polk County

REVIEW: Harvest Holler Corn Maze in Polk County

Today I visited Harvest Holler Corn Maze on a school field trip and LOVED it! The farm is already listed in our Fall & Halloween Activity Guide, but I had so much fun watching the kids run through the corn maze and get up close and personal with the farm animals that I knew I had to share more about it with Lakeland Mom readers.

Some of the activities you’ll find at Harvest Holler include:

Corn Maze – Everyone in the family will enjoy wandering through the 7-8’+ high stalks of corn as you try and find your way out! Be sure to stop and take in the magnificent tree located right in the middle of the corn field!

Hayride – There are plenty of seats on the hayride that will take you on a tractor pulled ride out into the cow and horse pasture. Be prepared to get up close and personal – the cows and horses will come right up to the wagon looking for a treat!

Cow Train – Hop aboard for a wild ride! Kidding – it’s totally safe for kids and adults, I even hopped on for a ride. This was one of the kids favorites. {photo at bottom}

Farm animals – You’ll find hens, roosters, a pig & a cow in the farm animal area.

Corn Hole – Four pairs of corn hole boards await a good family competition!

Tire Swing, Hay Bales & Mini Golf – The kids will enjoy climbing on the HUGE bales of hay, swinging on the tires, and hitting around the farm related obstacles in the mini golf area.

Corn Tubs – Kids can take off their shoes and “swim” in two tubs of corn kernels.

Pumpkin Patch – Small, medium and large pumpkins are available to purchase from the pumpkin patch.

Paw Paw’s Vitties – TRUST ME when I say – get the sausage dog! Quite possibly the best sausage I’ve ever had. Their grill also serves hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, boiled peanuts, and corn on the cob. Prices are SO reasonable and food is cooked fresh while you wait (so realize you might have to wait a few!)

Maw Maw’s Country Store – Fresh baked pies! Need I say more?? They also sell cobbler, local honey, homemade jams, jewelry, accessories, and a variety of gift items.

MANY photo opportunities There are plenty of areas to capture the memories from your day on the farm, from a painted fall backdrop, to a rusty tractor, to the hay bales & pumpkin patch.

Harvest Holler is a farm that is home to a hard-working family who have opened up their property for visitors to enjoy. The owners and the families helping run the farm on the weekends are happy to tell you about their animals, the farm, and will be sure you’re having a great time!

Keep in mind that this is agritourism at it’s best – you won’t find inflatables or fancy activities, but you WILL find the opportunity to get up close and personal with animals and enjoy the beauty of a farm and all it has to offer. It’s a wonderful family activity for fall!
